The History of the Tommy Bahama Brand

When you hear the name Tommy Bahama, you think beach, fun and relaxation. The creators of the Tommy Bahama brand have worked hard to create that image. Featuring casual menswear, Tommy Bahama is so much more than just Bermuda style shirts.

90's Flare

In the early '90s, the fashion industry was in a bit of a slump. It was a perfect time for new designers and companies to forge their way in and create new concepts. In 1993 Tony Margolis and Bob Emfield took advantage of this opening and created the Tommy Bahama concept - clothes for a lifestyle of never leaving the beach.

In the last two and a half decades, Tommy Bahama has grown from swimwear and casual shirts to a wide variety of menswear ranging from casual to formal. They also included a women's line that carries sportswear, denim and swimwear. Their items can be found at all major high-end department stores as well as smaller privately-owned stores all over the country.

Not Just Clothes

In 2007 Tommy Bahama created their own line of rum which features both a dark and light variety, made in a distillery in Barbados. Both have won high ratings from liquor aficionados around the world. The success of their rum just adds to the laid-back holiday vibe of the brand.

Big and Tall

Tommy Bahama's Big and Tall collection features some of their classic styles like button downs and khaki shorts as well as styles made especially for big and tall sizes. No plain boring outfits here. Every Tommy outfit is made for fun and relaxation while looking stylish.
