Job Interviews: What to Wear

People always say, “Dress for the job you want, not for the job you have.” And quite frankly, they’re right. But, what they don’t tell you is that it all depends on what job you want to have. Job interviews are hard as it is, Frank’s Big & Tall Shops have just what you need to make sure your wardrobe isn’t one of the many things you’re thinking about before the big day.

Going into a Legal/Finance Industry?

We suggest wearing an outfit that is formal and contemporary. Our suit experts in store and custom tailoring are exactly what you need for the big interview. Stick to classic colors like black, navy, or grey. To liven up your look, stick with a more elaborate tie, trust me--we’ve got tons to choose from.

Going into the Administrative/Secretarial/HR field?

Try a smart look without going too formal. Frank’s has tons of blazers to choose from, but try to stick with neutral colors--the perfect would be navy. Pair your blazer with an ironed crisp shirt (check out our other blog post about how to iron your dress shirt!) and a pair of chinos. To top it all off, grab your favorite tie, and you are good to go.

Going into Marketing, Advertising, PR, or another Media role?

Opt for a more modern look by either wearing a slick suit or trying fitted navy chinos with a crisp shirt and bold tie. Our suggestion is to go for our Enro Non Iron Shirts and a fun tie like this to really wow your interviewer.

Want to be an Educator? Or IT Specialist?

The tried and true Business look is what these professionals are looking for in a candidate. Definitely do not go for jeans with this look, instead, go for our Cutter and Buck shirts with a fitted chino like our Polo Ralph Lauren Flat Front Chino Pants. As usual, pair with a great tie and you’ll be looking like and feeling like a million bucks.

It is important to remember that first impressions could be the make it or break it in an interview, and you can never redo a first impression. This is why at Frank’s if you have questions about what to wear for an event you’re going to, ask one of our sales associates or check out our blog. Now you’re ready to ace the interview!
